Christmas is always a home-spun affair for us. We make our own tree, and we celebrate in a way that might echo local traditions from wherever we are. Bring on the Christmas piñata!

It’s Christmas Eve and we want to climb up the mountain one more time before we leave next week.

We went to the Christmas Concert around the corner from our apartment, we’d seen it posted on the church concert hall a day before and wanted to make sure not to miss it.

No matter how wet and rainy it gets you can’t let that stop you having adventures. Today we said, “right, we’re going to take the bus to Lepetane and take the ferry”.

This time our day trip is Budva! It’s a 2,500 year-old city south of Kotor, on the Adriatic Sea. We went on a sunny day after a few days of rain. Gorgeous!

There’s a movie theatre in the courtyard where the Black Poplar tree is, and this night we decided to go watch a movie!

Many events are in the evening, but some museums are still open during the day, one is the Maritime Museum.

Each of us will have two birthdays while we’re on this trip, and we just celebrated our daughter’s birthday.

Let’s take a day trip to Perast, home of The Church of Our Lady of the Rocks, maybe we can go see it? Alice says…

The weather is okay and it’s right in our backyard so we waste no time and head up the mountain today above Kotor, on the fortress walls.
